The Emerald Triangle

Left The Dream Ranch
rolled through a bottle neck
of a town
named Willits.
Gateway To The Redwoods
where a tie-dyed aging hippie
who claims to have been to
1000 or more Grateful Dead concerts
hugs me
and says
Love You Kids

kids in sunglasses
on skateboards
certain congestion
dudes in pig-tails
Main Street Music and Tattoo

Garberville
now that's the gateway to the redwoods
exactly 1000 miles
from that crack capital of
Kingman, Arizona

In Garberville
looking for
the Blushing, Barefoot Burlesque
A kitten named Smitten
tattooed biting on
her lace stockings

Big Sur

Big Sur
eight dollar
double stout beer
bearded bartender
and pretty hippie girls
open mic
reading my words
to new friends

Rolling 'cross
that tall bridge
out of Kerouac into Steinbeck county.
Monterey
and Cannery Row
and Doc's lab
still standing
across from Wing Chong's store
So I put a sliver of it
into my pocket
along side
my hangover.

Highway 58

Reaffirm my faith
in humanity
by camping
on the side of the road.
Cars pass
in the dark, star filled
California night
Awake to sunrise
safe in our van.

Sedona

It is I upon worn
rubber tire soled
leather sandels
whom has fallen
so far behind
I've felt the sense of victory
Me with needs of travel
and blood
in the pit of my stomach
crossing the red stones
of Sedona
searching for words and image
to cover canvas
white as clouds uninterrupted
feasting on night dream
of success
only to awake empty
The ripe smell of sweat
to drive me away
from myself
in search of
inspiration and peace.

Ede

was drunk
and
looking
you up
The sky is
blue
look up
don't piss off
the wrong
people
the room
next to me
is pissing
me
off
with
loud noise
and nuisance
Just
Wanted
to
talk.

Santa Fe

whazoo crazy
white piss
in the shitter
fly'n high in New Mexico
paying for
Canadian whiskey
in
America
realize
I'm a lost artist.
Here
pieces fly for big bucks
and I ain't got wings.

Ditches

45 mph through Sylvester
pass T-Bone Phylli's
smoke hangs in the air
on an 88 degree day
"Join Now"
on a Rebel flag
Sister Ruby
and a broken down trailer
the old school Rd
mile 6
Old Mill Rd
a smoky haze
Sasser Georgia
on a double lane
red dirt in the ditches
and a fire on the rise
In Union Springs
made a slow right
onto Blackmon Street
rolling on past Fayetteville
headed to the
Musgokee turnpike

Budget ZZZ Motel

April 4th
The warm Oklahoma wind blows open the #31 green painted hotel door. trash blows past, potato chips whirl in the air, the do not disturb sign blows off the door handle as the Budget ZZZ Motel owner passes pulling a garbage container on wheels spilling it's contents into the wind.

Next door at The Hickory House Restaurant, ball caped locals sit outside on a wooden bench. A Harley passes effortlessly with a tail wind. The smell of fried food lines the warm wind.
